IceMen Stumble Late in 4-2 Loss to Elmira

ELMIRA, N.Y.- Up by one goal heading into the third period, the Evansville IceMen, presented by Coors Light, could not hang on to their lead as the Elmira Jackals rallied to win 4-2 at the First Arena. Evansville drops to 4-4-0-1 (9 points) on the season, while the Jackals move to 6-3-0-2 (14 points), after dealing Evansville it's third consecutive loss.

After a slashing call on Patch Alber, the IceMen struck first on a power play. Troy Rutkowski netted his first goal of the season when he beat Sam Marotta with a blast from the blue line. Brandon Wong and Kale Kerbashian picked up assists on they play as the IceMen claimed a 1-0 lead and ended a 12 power play scoring drought.

Elmira answered a little over two minutes later. Ryan Rashid put in a rebound to knot it up at one going into the first of the season.

In the second period, the IceMen found themselves on the power play once again. Zack Currie sent the puck down low to Matt Lowry who made a backhanded, cross-crease feed to Jarret Lukin, The Fort McMurray, AB native smacked it home to give the IceMen a 2-1 lead. Lukin's third of the year put the IceMen up by one heading into the final period.

In the third period the Jackals responded. Nick Tuzzalino, Thomas Nesbitt, and Rob Florentino all lit the lamp as the Jackals claimed a 4-2 lead in the final period of play.

The IceMen pulled Chris Driedger and had a power play in the final two minutes, but could not do any more damage as they dropped their third consecutive game.

Driedger made 27 saves as he fell to 1-3-0-1. Marrota turned away 18 IceMen shots to move to 2-1-0-0 on the season.

Evansville and Elmira meet again tomorrow night. The puck is scheduled to drop at 6:05 central time from New York. Join the official IceMen Watch party at Bar Louie for tomorrow night's game.

Following their two game trip to Elmira, the IceMen will return to the Ford Center to take on the Greenville Road Warriors on Wednesday, Nov. 19. The IceMen will also celebrate the career of Assistant Coach and IceMen legend Josh Beaulieu as they hold a retirement party in his honor.
