Altoona Curve News Release
CURVE, Pa. - The Altoona Curve, Double-A affiliate of the Pittsburgh Pirates, open up a seven-game homestand on Monday, August 5 at Peoples Natural Gas Field.
The Curve welcome back the Richmond Flying Squirrels, Double-A affiliate of the San Francisco Giants, through Thursday and host the Reading Fightin Phils, Double-A affiliate of the Philadelphia Phillies, for their only visit to Altoona in 2019 for three games through Sunday.
Thursday, August 8 is the final appearance of the Allegheny Yinzers jerseys, presented by Keller Engineers. The black-and-yellow jerseys with a silhouette of the Clemente Bridge across the front will be auctioned off and benefit the Roberto Clemente Foundation. The jersey auction is the ONLY way fans will be able to get their hands on the popular rebranded uniforms. A portion of the jerseys will be available at the ballpark during the game while the rest will be up for auction through the LiveSource App. Instructions on how to download the free LiveSource App and to submit bids can be found HERE.
The final Yinzers game also highlights one of four giveaways during the week-long homestand. The first 500 fans will receive a Yinzers Rally Towel, presented by Grane Hospice, on Thursday, August 8 and will be the third giveaway item of the week. It will be preceded by a Curve Bandana, presented by LAMB Solutions and Nuts For You, to the first 500 fans on Monday, August 5 and a UPMC Health Plan Carabiner giveaway on Tuesday, August 6. On Saturday, August 10, the first 1,000 fans will receive the Smokin' Adam Frazier bobblehead, presented by UniFirst, that features the former Curve and current Pirate dressed as boxing legend Joe Frazier.
There will be three themed FIREWORKS shows featured throughout the week on Tuesday, Friday and Sunday set to tunes from Johnny Cash, Aerosmith and Newsboys.
Sunday's fireworks end the homestand and will be set to the hits of Newsboys as part of Faith Night Vol. 2, presented by Element Church. Gates will open at a special 4:30 p.m. time for a pregame concert from Red Letter Hymnal.
The seven-day stay begins with Wild West Night on Monday, which will benefit Easter for Eli. A portion of group ticket sales from the game will go to the local organization that delivers Easter baskets to hospitalized children. For further details on Wild West Night, CLICK HERE.
The Curve concert series, presented by Unlimited Cycle Center, will feature live pregame music on Thursday, Friday and Saturday on the Party Deck from local acts This Albatross, The Roof and AFC North - Karaoke Contest Winner.
