Binghamton Rumble Ponies' second baseman Luis Carpio's two-run, sixth-inning double gave rallied the Ponies from a 2-1 deficit and helped give them a 3-2 win over the Akron RubberDucks on Friday night at Canal Park.
Turning Point
With Akron leading 2-1 entering the sixth inning, Binghamton scored twice to take the lead on Luis Carpio's two-run double, which followed a one-out double by Austin Bossart and a walk to Andres Gimenez.
Mound Presence
Akron RubberDucks starter Tanner Tully picked up the loss despite a quality-start outing. He went 6.2 innings, allowing three runs on seven hits, one walk and striking out three. Reliever Robert Broom entered in the seventh inning and threw 2.1 perfect innings of relief.
Duck Tales
The RubberDucks offense had four hits, led by Connor Marabell with two. The other two hits, both doubles, came in the Ducks' two-run second inning. In that frame, Marabell led off with a single, Andruw Monasterio flied out before Mitch Longo doubled to left field, sending Marabell to third. Nellie Rodriguez followed with a two-run double in the left-center alley.
Notebook
Marabell's two-hit game is his 26th multi-hit game, tied with Clement for the team lead...Clement went 0-for-4 and didn't reach base safely for just the third time in 32 games dating back to May 9... Tully is now 4-0 with a 3.22 ERA vs. Bowie and 2-9 with a 4.92 ERA in 14 starts against the other EL teams...Since July 2, Broom has a 0.61 ERA in 10 games (14.2 IP/1 ER) with eight walks and 13 strikeouts. Opponents are hitting just .157 off him in that span...Binghamton now leads the season series 11-4 and have won six of eight games at Canal Park...Time of Game: 2:11...Attendance: 6,971.
On the Pond
The RubberDucks continue their homestand Saturday night at 7:05 p.m. in the second game of a three-game weekend series vs. the Binghamton Rumble Ponies. The game will be broadcast on Fox Sports 1350 AM, the WARF iHeart channel, and the TuneIn Radio App. RHP Eli Morgan (5-2, 3.41) is scheduled to face a pitcher to be announced for Binghamton.
