Trenton Thunder News Release

Nick Nelson tossed six scoreless innings for the Thunder on Friday night in a 2-0 win over the Hartford Yard Goats at Dunkin' Donuts Park.

Three Hartford baserunners reached scoring position against Nelson (6-2), who threw 103 pitches and worked around constant traffic, stranding six baserunners. The right-hander now owns a 1.15 ERA over his past six appearances (five starts).

Nelson and relievers Brooks Kriske and Daniel Alvarez combined to retire 16 of 17 Yard Goats batters from the fourth inning into the first out of the ninth. Alvarez worked out of a two-baserunner jam in the ninth inning to record his 15th save.

Brandon Wagner clocked an RBI-double to straightaway center field in the seventh off Yard Goats reliever Justin Lawrence (0-4) and Ben Ruta added an RBI-double off the right field wall in the eighth against Matt Whitehouse for the game's only runs.

Yard Goats (17-24, 54-54) starter Antonio Santos took a no-decision, receiving no run support while matching Nelson with six scoreless innings. The right-hander struck out seven and held the Thunder to three hits.

Rashad Crawford went 3-for-4 for the Thunder (21-23, 59-51), matching a season-best 12-game on-base streak and logging just his second game this season with three or more hits.
