Yennsy Diaz Strong Again on Wednesday, But 'Cats Fall to Baysox 3-2

Manchester, NH - Yennsy Diaz allowed just one run in seven innings, while Vinny Capra homered and drove in two runs, but the New Hampshire Fisher Cats (Blue Jays Double-A affiliate) fell to the Bowie Baysox (Baltimore Orioles) 3-2 on Wednesday night at Delta Dental Stadium.

Bowie rallied with a pair of runs in the top of the eighth inning to take the middle game of the series. An RBI single by Anderson Feliz and a run scoring fielder's choice by Rylan Bannon turned a 2-1 deficit into a 3-2 edge for the Baysox.

The Fisher Cats had opened a 2-1 lead for Diaz, who scattered four hits, walked three and struck out four in another impressive effort.

New Hampshire took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the second inning. Riley Adams reached on an error and Josh Palacios singled to center. A single by Capra brought Adams home for a 1-0 lead.

Bowie scored for the first time in the series in the top of the third inning. Ryan McKenna singled and stole second before Austin Hays doubled him home to draw the Baysox even at 1-1.

Capra's second home run of the season, a deep drive over the left field fence, led off the fourth inning to give the Fisher Cats a 2-1 lead.

Bowie's relievers Francisco Jimenez (W, 2-0) and Zach Muckenhirn (S, 2) combined to shut down New Hampshire over the final 4.1 innings. Baysox starter Brandon Zimmerman worked 4.2 innings, allowing both runs on six hits while striking out eight batters.

Notes:

Forrest Wall went 0-for-5 and saw his 15-game hit streak come to an end. It had matched the longest streak in the Eastern League this season.

Tayler Saucedo (L, 2-1) allowed a run for the first time since April 7. He had allowed only one run in 20.1 innings coming into the game.

Bowie's Ryan McKenna, who went to St. Thomas High School in Dover, N.H. went two-for-four with a pair of singles.

The series with Bowie concludes on Thursday at 10:35 a.m. It's S.T.E.M. in the Stadium. The Fisher Cats invite schools from across New England to the ballpark for a day of learning and fun, presented by Southern New Hampshire University.
