CONQUEST: West Virginia bested Delmarva 5-2 on Wednesday afternoon. The Shorebirds took a 1-0 lead on a solo home run by Yermin Mercedes in the second inning. Tito Polo tied the game with a leadoff home run in the bottom of the third. The Power plated two more in the frame for a 3-1 lead. After the 'Birds got within one in the fifth, the Power scored twice more in the eighth to close out the offense. Colten Brewer worked six complete for his fourth while Josh Walker took the loss as West Virginia capped a three-game series sweep. Michael Suchy, Jerrick Suiter, Tyler Filliben and Polo had two hits each.
IT'S A FIGHT: Hickory won the Northern Division crown in the first half of the 2015 season with a 44-24 record, beating the second place West Virginia by seven and a half games for the division title. In the second season, the Power are up on the Crawdads by six games entering play tonight. This series marks the third and finale set of the regular season between the two clubs that hold the South Atlantic League's top two overall records.
NO EASY WAY OUT: West Virginia holds the league's best home mark at 41-20 with nine games remaining at Appalachian Power Park during the 2015 regular season. The franchise's single-season home victory record is 44, set during the 2007 season when the club went 44-26 at Appalachian Power Park. The Power play four against Lakewood (6-4 vs. BlueClaws overall in 2015) and five versus Lexington (10-2 overall in 2015).
HEART'S ON FIRE: The Power have more hits in August than any other club in the league (139) and are tied with Lexington for the most runs scored (80). West Virginia has at least nine hits in every game this month.
GONNA FLY NOW: West Virginia closed its season series with Delmarva with a 12-3 record, including a 9-2 record at home in the season series.
EYE OF THE TIGER: Jordan Luplow extended his hitting streak to 11 straight with a 1-4 performance on Wednesday The third baseman has a .378 average since August 2 with 17 hits over 45 at bats. Luplow's current streak is the longest of his young career. He hit safely in ten straight with the Jamestown Jammers last year from July 7 through 20 (13 for 41- .317 average) and had a nine game streak with the Power earlier this season.
REDEMPTION: Colten Brewer's quality start on Wednesday was his fourth of the season and first since July 27 at Hagerstown. It was also the ninth time Brewer has pitched six complete innings in any game this year.
BURNING HEART: Yeudy Garcia was honored by Minor League Baseball on Monday as the best player in the South Atlantic League during July. The right-hander went 6-0 with a league-best 0.90 earned run average over six appearances, including five starts. Garcia is the first Power player to be tabbed by Minor League Baseball for an award since Tyler Glasnow was named best Class-A pitcher after the 2013 season.

Autographs range from current Major Leaguers to celebrities and all proceeds benefit Power Baseball Charities.
POWER POINTS: The Power are 28-26 on the road this season with 15 left away from home... Tito Polo's home run on Wednesday was his first since June 28 against Greensboro. Both have been leadoff shot... Pablo Reyes's seven-game hitting streak and 11 game on-base streak ended with the second baseman leaving Tuesday's game after one at bat...
AROUND THE ORGANIZATION: Pittsburgh rocked St. Louis with a seven-run first in a 10-5 victory... Indianapolis blanked Toledo 3-0. Wilfredo Boscan earned the win... Altoona surrendered four runs in the eighth in a 5-4 loss to Binghamton... Bradenton beat Charlotte 5-3. Henry Hirsch notched the win and Dovydas Neverauskas earned his second FSL save... The Black Bears lost 4-1 to Aberdeen and fell to 25-28 this season.
