Hector Olivera Comes to Rome

Rome, GA -- Hector Olivera is expected to join the Rome Braves on Sunday when the team takes on the Lexington Legends at State Mutual Stadium at 2 p.m. (gates open at 1 p.m.) On June 30th, the Atlanta Braves acquired Olivera from Los Angeles as part of a three-team trade that included former Rome Braves players Alex Wood and Jose Peraza, along with Jim Johnson and  Bronson Arroyo. This season Olivera hit .348 with two home runs in 19 games while playing at three minor league levels. In seven games at Triple-A Oklahoma City he hit .387 (12-for-31) with a double, a triple and a home run. He also played ten seasons in Cuba's top league. Olivera has been sidelined a month with a hamstring injury.

Rome begins a four game home stand tonight with Lexington at 7 p.m. (gates open at 6 p.m.), a doubleheader tomorrow beginning at 5 p.m. (gates open at 4 p.m.), and Sunday at 2 p.m.
