Gil Goes Nine, Rome Gets 2-1 Win

Rome, GA - The Rome Braves edged the Lexington Legends 2-1 Friday evening at State Mutual Stadium before a crowd of 2,204. Rome starter Yean Carlos Gil went the distance allowing just one run on four hits while striking out four.

Lexington took a 1-0 lead in the second on a run scoring base hit by Chase Vallot. Rome tied the contest in the seventh when Joseph Daris singled and stole second. He later scored on Braxton Davidson's single. The Braves grabbed the lead in the eighth inning on Wigberto Nevarez's two out double for the 2-1 score. Lexington went down in order in the ninth and Rome held on for the win. Only one Lexington base runner reached second base during the game as Gil was masterful keeping the Legends in check all night.

Gil (2-5) gets the victory while Nick Green (0-1) is tagged with the loss.
