Trouble with Augusta's Curve; Tourists Fall 4-2

Asheville Tourists News Release
ASHEVILLE, NC-- On Friday night the Asheville Tourists appeared as if they had never seen a curveball before. The Augusta GreenJackets invaded McCormick Field with one plan and one plan only...and it worked. The GreenJackets refused to throw Asheville fastballs and in doing so, they induced 13 strikeouts from the Tourists hitters and came away with a 4-2 win.
It was almost comical in the sense that practically every pitch was a curveball, nearly every one, all game. D.J. Snelten started for the visitors and went five innings. After Asheville touched up Snelten for a run in the first, the lefthander's only other blemish was a solo Home Run he allowed to Shane Hoelscher in the fourth. Dusten Knight relieved Snelten and picked up right where the starter left off.
The Tourists managed to go just 1-for-10 with runners in scoring position. The one hit was a Jairo Rosario infield single that moved Yonathan Daza from second to third. Asheville continually chased curveballs in the dirt, time and time again. Hoelscher and Daza were the only Tourists who avoided a strikeout.
Sam Howard pitched well for the home team but he left after five innings trailing 3-2. Howard surrendered a two-run Home Run to Chuckie Jones and Jonah Arenado's sacrifice fly proved to be the winning run. Augusta added an unearned run in the sixth.
Jerad McCrummen and James Lomangino both did a nice job out of Asheville's bullpen but the offense never could figure it out. The Tourists will attempt to regroup on Saturday night with the same two teams in action. The first pitch is scheduled for 6:05pm.
