Greenville, SC - The recent struggles of the Greenville Drive continued in Friday night's series opener against the Charleston RiverDogs, who scored six unanswered runs and silenced the Drive offense for much of the night to win the contest 6-2.

The Drive (21-26, 59-58) were held to two hits on the night, and they both came in the third inning. With one out, Yoan Moncada lined a double to right-center, and two batters later, Rafael Devers broke out of a recent funk with a two-run homer to right, his 11th home run of the season.

The home run by Devers would be the final Drive baserunner of the night, as Rony Bautista (4-5), Conner Kendrick and Philip Walby retired the next 19 hitters in a row to finish the game.

Charleston (18-29, 52-65) cut the Drive lead to 2-1 in the fourth against Ben Taylor on an RBI groundout, and they took the lead for good against Michael Gunn (0-3) in the fifth when Vicente Conde cracked a two-run homer to left-center.

The RiverDogs scored three more times in the seventh to pull away. Conde doubled to lead off the inning and came in on Bo Thompson's RBI single. Later in the frame, Isaias Tejeda singled off the glove of a diving Javier Guerra at shortstop to plate two more.

Collin Slaybaugh went 4-4 at the plate to lead the Charleston offense. Conde, Thompson and Devyn Bolasky each chipped in with two hits.

The Drive aim to break the five-game losing skid on Saturday night at 7:05 with RH Jeffry Fernandez (3-8, 5.80) on the mound. The RiverDogs will counter with RH Jordan Foley (3-6, 3.08).
