
Sand Gnats Homer Past 'Hoppers 6-4 Friday for 11th Straight

Savannah, GA - The Savannah Sand Gnats use back-to-back homers to defeat the Greensboro Grasshoppers 6-4 on Friday at Historic Grayson Stadium. The Sand Gnats have won a season-high 11 straight and 19 of their last 21 games.
The Gnats (29-17/68-48) jumped out to an early 3-0 lead in the first inning on back-to-back jacks from DH Wuilmer Becerra and 3B Eudor Garcia, their ninth home runs. Becerra's smash came with SS Luis Guillorme on second after his double.

Greensboro (14-33/43-73) managed just five hits of Gnats starter RHP Chris Flexen over his 6.1 innings of work. The Grasshoppers tied the game at four in the eighth inning with back-to-back RBI-doubles from DH KJ Woods and C Arturo Rodriguez of Christian Montgomery.
Savannah broke the tie in the home half of the eight when C Tomas Nido singled and scored from first on a double from LF Joe Tuschak. Becerra added an insurance run with an infield single to score Tuschak. Becerra was 2-for-5 with four RBI on the night.

The Sand Gnats and Grasshoppers will continue their three-game series tomorrow at Historic Grayson Stadium. The Gnats will start RHP Josh Prevost (3-4, 3.75), while the `Hoppers will send RHP Gabriel Castellanos (0-0, 7.00) to the mound for the 6:05 PM start. Gates will open at 5pm and there will be Saturday Night Fireworks after the game.
