THE LEADOFF: West Virginia beat Delmarva 11-2 on Monday evening. Suchy tied the game at two with a solo home run to start the bottom of the fourth and the Power took the lead when Pablo Reyes singled in Kevin Newman in the fifth. West Virginia scored seven runs on six hits over ten batters in the sixth to break the game wide open. Taylor Gushue's bases loaded double plated three in the sixth. The Power catcher added a solo home run in the seventh for the first four RBI game of his career.

GARCIA THE GREAT: Yeudy Garcia was honored by Minor League Baseball on Monday as the best player in the South Atlantic League during July. The right-hander went 6-0 with a league-best 0.90 earned run average over six appearances, including five starts. Garcia is the first Power player to be tabbed by Minor League Baseball for an award since Tyler Glasnow was named best Class-A pitcher after the 2013 season.

BEST WEEK EVER: Jordan Luplow was honored by the South Atlantic League on Monday as the Player-of-the-Week for August 3 through 9. The third baseman hit .414 with four doubles, two home runs, seven walks, six runs batted in and 11 runs scored. Luplow joins Michael Suchy as the only Power players tabbed for weekly awards this season.

TUCKER'ED OUT: Cole Tucker was placed on the Power Disabled List Sunday with shoulder fatigue. The 19-year-old has not played since July 28. Tucker has the Power's second best batting average this season at .293 over 73 games. The switch hitter stole 25 bases and hit two home runs with 25 runs batted in during that span.

WV TO WV: The Pittsburgh Pirates have promoted Kevin Newman and Edgar Santana to the Power roster from the Black Bears. Newman, the 19th overall selection in the 2015 draft, was batting .226 in the New York-Penn League with two home runs and nine runs batted in while starting 38 games at shortstop. Santana appeared in 14 games for the Black Bears, going 1-0 with a save and sported a 2.70 ERA. Santana was signed in 2013 and was pitching in the Dominican Summer League last season. In a second countermove, Erik Forgione was transferred to the Black Bears.

COME FLY AWAY: West Virginia leads the all-time series against Delmarva 70-62 heading into play tonight, including a 44-31 record at Appalachian Power Park against the Shorebirds.
