Charleston, WV (August 11, 2015) - On Monday, Minor League Baseball announced the Player-of-the-Month Award winners for each of the 16 leagues for July. West Virginia Power right-hander Yeudy Garcia was honored as the best player in the South Atlantic League. Garcia went 6-0 in July with a 0.90 earned run average.

Garcia was signed by the Pittsburgh Pirates in 2013 and spent the entire 2014 season in the Dominican Summer League. The 22 year-old entered the Power rotation in mid-May after eight relief appearances. Through 25 appearances this season, including 16 starts, Garcia is 11-5 with a 2.37 earned run average.

Garcia becomes the first player to win a league-wide award from Minor League Baseball since Tyler Glasnow was tabbed as the best pitcher in Class-A baseball at the end of the 2013 season.

Fellow Pirates farmhands Logan Hill and Carlos Munoz were also honored for their work in July. Hill hit .330 for the West Virginia Black Bears in the New York-Penn League with four home runs and 23 runs batted in. Munoz warned the honor as the top player in the Appalachian League after hitting .396 with seven home runs and 23 runs batted in.
