
Savannah Shuts out Rome 3-0 Tuesday

Savannah, GA - The Sand Gnats shutout the Rome Braves 3-0 on Tuesday at Historic Grayson Stadium. Savannah has won eight straight and 17 of their last 20 games.
The Gnats (26-17/65-48) scored all three of their runs in the second inning. Savannah used four consecutive hits to do the damage with 1B Michael Katz and DH JC Rodriguez each registering RBIs. Later in the second, CF Patrick Biondi scored LF John Mora for the third run of the game. SS Luis Guillorme picked up two hits on the night and is now hitting .420 (21-for-50) against Rome this season. Rodriguez leads the team with a .444 batting average against the Braves.
Rome (16-27/47-66) could not get any offense going off of Gnats' starter RHP Corey Oswalt (9-4). Oswalt picks up the win after allowing just two hits over his 5.0 innings of work. LHP Paul Paez added 3.0 perfect innings with four strikeouts behind Oswalt. RHP Cameron Griffin picked up his seventh save of the season after tossing one hitless inning.
The Sand Gnats and Braves will continue their three-game set tomorrow at Historic Grayson Stadium. The Gnats will start RHP Ricky Knapp (5-2, 2.69), while Rome will send RHP Touki Toussaint (3-3, 6.05) to the mound for the 7:05 PM start.
