Kingery, Davis Lead Claws to 6-1 Win

LAKEWOOD, NJ - Scott Kingery had three hits and three stolen bases while Austin Davis gave up one run over six innings as the BlueClaws topped Greensboro 6-1 on Tuesday night at FirstEnergy Park.

The win gives the BlueClaws two straight and puts them at 26-19/59-54 on the season. They kept pace with West Virginia and remain in second place, five games in back of the Power. Greensboro falls to 14-31/43-71 on the season. The BlueClaws have taken the first two games of the three game series and 12 of 19 against the Hoppers this year.

The BlueClaws opened the scoring in the second inning off Tyler Kolek. The opening run scored on an RBI single by Joel Fisher and they added a run on a SAC fly by Emmanuel Marrero to put the BlueClaws up 2-0.

After Brian Schales homered in the Greensboro 4th, the BlueClaws got back to two-runs ahead on a solo home run by Herlis Rodriguez in the fifth. Rodriguez's home run extended his hitting streak to 13 games and was his team-leading 10th home run of the season.

Lakewood starter Austin Davis gave up one run over six innings and tied his career high with six strikeouts in improving to 2-4. Joey DeNato got the last nine outs for his eighth save of the season.

Kingery's three hits tied a career high and he is the first BlueClaws player this year to steal three bases in a game. Damek Tomscha also had three hits for Lakewood while Kyle Martin and Joel Fisher each had two.

The BlueClaws added to their lead with two runs in the seventh and one in the eighth and finished with 14 hits on the night.

The series with Greensboro finishes on Wednesday night at 7:05. LHP Elniery Garcia (6-9) starts for Lakewood against LHP Michael Mader (5-10).
