
Wranglers Tally Eight In Win Over Utah, 8-5

Salt Lake City, UT - The Las Vegas Wranglers (18-20-4, 40 Points) defeated the Utah Grizzlies (18-19-4, 40 Points) 8-5 in front of 10,020 fans Friday night at The E-Center. Forwards Jeff Hazelwood, Andrew Orpik, and Mick Lawrence all tallied two goals and an assist to lead Las Vegas. Forwards Adam Miller and Josh Prudden also tallied for Las Vegas, and Captain Chris Neiszner added three assists in the win. Wranglers goalie Michael Ouzas made 50 saves to improve to 15-16-3 this season. Forward Ryan Kinasewich notched a hat-trick for Utah. Goalie Beau Erickson made 21 saves to move to 3-5-1 this year. The Wranglers take on the Utah Grizzlies Saturday, January 30th at 6:05 p.m. at The E-Center.
Las Vegas took an early lead with a tally from rookie Jeff Hazelwood just 2:34 in to play. Captain Chris Neiszner set up Hazelwood's sixth goal of the season for the 1-0 Wranglers lead. Las Vegas added to the early lead with a goal from All-Star Adam Miller at 8:20. Miller's 13th goal of the season padded the Wranglers lead to 2-0. Just 2:02 later, forward Mick Lawrence extended the Las Vegas lead to 3-0. Defenseman Craig Switzer and forward Josh Prudden assisted on Lawrence's 13th goal of the season. Las Vegas kept the pressure on at 12:51, with rookie Andrew Orpik stretching the lead to 4-0. Hazelwood set up Orpik's fifth goal of the year. Utah chipped into the lead with a tally from forward Ryan Kinasewich at 16:51. Kinasewich's 29th goal of the season trimmed the Las Vegas lead to 4-1.
In the second period, Las Vegas extended the lead to 5-1 with Hazelwood's second tally of the evening. Neiszner and Orpik assisted on Hazelwood's seventh goal of the season at 10:10. The Grizzlies answered with Kinasewich's second goal of the night to trim the Wranglers lead to 5-2. The Grizzlies cut the lead to two goals with a tally from defenseman Peter Aston at 14:02. At 18:16, Utah cut the lead to 5-4 with a goal from forward Tim Crowder. Forwards Brett Parnham and Lance Galbraith set up Crowder's seventh goal of the season. Las Vegas regained a two-goal lead before the end of the second period with Orpik's second goal of the game. Orpik's sixth goal of the season came with just 53-second left in the middle period, to give the Wranglers a 6-4 lead.
The Wranglers extended the lead in the third period with a goal from Prudden at 7:09. Prudden snapped in his seventh goal of the season to stretch the Las Vegas lead to 7-4 in the final period. At 17:48 of the third, Kinasewich tallied his third goal on the night. Kinasewich's hat-trick goal trimmed the Las Vegas lead to 7-5. With 1:29 remaining, Lawrence picked up his second goal of the game. Lawrence sailed the puck into a vacant Utah net to seal the Wranglers the 8-5 win.
