Reading Royals News Release

Reading, PA - The Reading Royals of the ECHL, affiliate of the Toronto Maple Leafs and Boston Bruins of the National Hockey League and the Toronto Marlies of the American Hockey League, today announced that defenseman Jared Ross has been recalled to the Providence Bruins of the AHL. In separate transactions completed today: (i) the Royals signed defenseman Chris Clark; and (ii) forward Charlie Kronschnabel was returned to Reading from the Syracuse Crunch of the AHL. In transactions previously completed, forward Olivier Labelle was moved from the 3-Day Injured Reserve to the 7-Day Injured Reserve and defenseman Rob LaLonde was placed on the 3-Day Injured Reserve.

Ross, a first year pro from Stony Island, Nova Scotia, was assigned to Reading on Wednesday, January 27, 2010, and played for the Royals in the team's 4-1 loss to the Gwinnett Gladiators that night. He did not register any points or penalty minutes but was credited with four shots on goal. Ross began the season with the Royals and played twenty games with Reading, scoring three goals and assisting on two others, prior to being recalled to Providence on December 10, 2009. In eighteen games with the P-Bruins, Ross has picked up two assists and two penalty minutes. Clark, a third year pro from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, played a total of 17 ECHL games last season with the Johnstown Chiefs, Cincinnati Cyclones and Utah Grizzlies. This season he has played eight games with the Louisiana IceGators and Fayetteville FireAntz of the Southern Professional Hockey League. Kronschnabel was loaned to Syracuse on Thursday, but did not play in the 5-4 shootout win for the Crunch last night over the San Antonio Rampage. This marks the second trip of the year to the injured reserve for LaLonde, who missed sixteen consecutive games from late October through early December on the IR. In twenty-seven games with the Royals this season, LaLonde has scored three goals and assisted on seven others (ten points) and picked up 105 penalty minutes.

The Royals return to action on tonight (Saturday, January 30, 2010 @ 7:05 pm) when the Charlotte Checkers visit the Sovereign Center for the first time this season. The first 1500 fans 21 years of age and older that night will receive a Royals' beer mug courtesy of Coors Light. The Royals game night broadcast on the Royals Radio Network presented by Transmissions by Arbogast will kick off with the pre-game warm-up show at 6:35 pm.
