Las Vegas Wranglers News Release

Las Vegas - The Las Vegas Wranglers reclaimed first place in the ECHL's Pacific division tonight after defeating the Ontario Reign 4-1 and winning both games in the weekend road series.

On a power play less than four minutes into the game, Reign defenseman Mike Gabinet scored for Ontario to make it a 1-0 game. The Wranglers tied it up 11 minutes later, though, when center Chris Francis netted a penalty shot on Reign goaltender Jean-Francois Berube to knot the game through the first period.

Midway through the second, Las Vegas secured two goals in 1:29 minutes to take a 3-1 lead over Ontario. Forward Sean Wiles recorded his seventh goal of the season at 12:47, and center Judd Blackwater recorded his second goal of the weekend at 14:16 for the two-goal advantage. Wranglers left wing Robbie Smith tallied a goal six minutes into the third to cap the 4-1 victory for Las Vegas, giving the team 83 points in the standings to take first place back from Ontario. Wranglers goaltender Mitch O'Keefe allowed just two shots in two games after facing a combined 55 shots this weekend, earning him and Wiles Three Star nods tonight.

The Wranglers wrap up a nine-game road series this weekend as they face the Stockton Thunder on Friday night and the Bakersfield Condors on Saturday night. When the team returns home to Orleans Arena on Sunday, March 18, Wranglers players will shave their heads on the ice after the game to raise funds and awareness for St. Baldrick's Foundation and childhood cancer.
