Cincinnati Cyclones News Release

GWINNETT, Georgia - Behind 30 saves from goaltender Ryan Zapolski, the Gwinnett Gladiators (35-17-7-4) shutout the Cincinnati Cyclones (29-22-2-7) by a 2-0 final score in front of 7,829 at Gwinnett Center on Saturday night. It was just the third time this season that Cincinnati was blanked.

After nearly playing a scoreless first period, Gwinnett's David Brownschidle broke the deadlock at 18:20 by batting a loose puck past Chet Pickard (L, 25 saves, 12-11-0-2) to give the Gladiators a 1-0 lead at the first intermission.

Nikita Kashirsky was the beneficiary of a lucky bounce midway thorough the middle stanza; after a shot redirected to the middle off of Jonathan Parker, Kashirsky slid the rebound under Pickard for a 2-0 Gwinnett lead at the 12:40 mark. And despite outshooting the Gladiators 24-18 through two periods, the Cyclones trailed 2-0.

After having blanked the Cyclones back on February 22, Gwinnett goalie Ryan Zapolski (W, 30 saves, 8-2-0-1) continued his shutout streak by turning aside six more Cincinnati shots in the third period to earn his second-consecutive shutout over the Cyclones by the 2-0 final score.

Cincinnati will now head east and visit the South Carolina Stingrays tomorrow afternoon at 4:05pm. Fans can hear all the action of the tilt on the Cyclones Radio Network beginning at 3:50pm.
