March 10, 2012 - ECHL (ECHL)
Chicago Express News Release
Kalamazoo, MI - The Chicago Express, proud member of the ECHL and proud affiliate of the NHL's Columbus Blue Jackets, saw G Rob Madore turn aside 26 shots to help the Express to a 2-0 win over Kalamazoo at Wings Stadium on Saturday night.
For the second straight game, G Rob Madore stood on his head through the first two periods, giving the Express a chance to take a lead in the game. After a scoreless first period, RW Danick Paquette picked up a rebound in front of the net after a shot from D Scott Wietecha was tipped by F Pierre-Luc Faubert. The goal was scored 11:43 into the middle frame, and the Express held a 1-0 lead after two periods of play.
D Jonathan Zion added an important insurance goal for the Chicago Express 7:43 into the final frame. After D Taylor Ellington rang a shot off the post, Zion found the rebound, kicked the puck to his stick, and tapped it past G Brad Fogal to put Chicago up 2-0. Two goals were plenty for G Rob Madore, who earned his first professional shutout in just his second professional game, stopping all 26 Wings shots in the contest.
Power plays: CHI: 0/2; KAL: 0/1
Three stars: 1. R. Madore (CHI); 2. J. Zion (CHI); 3. E. Kattelus (KAL)
