Las Vegas Wranglers News Release
Las Vegas, NV - The Las Vegas Wranglers® (31-27-7, 69 Points) were defeated by the Alaska Aces (30-26-8, 68 Points) 3-2 in front of 5,057 fans Friday night at the Orleans Arena.
One night after combining for 15 goals in an 8-7 victory the Wranglers were defeated by the Alaska Aces, 3-2. Bryan Miller netted the game winning goal with less than 38 seconds remaining to give Alaska the victory. Alex Bourret and Mike Madill scored in the loss for the Wranglers while Joel Gistedt stopped 21 of 24 shots. Jarret Konkle and Tyson Marsh scored for Alaska and goalie Scott Reid made 33 saves for the victory.
Alaska struck early in the first period, as Jarrett Konkle's shot from the right point beat Wranglers goalie Joel Gistedt to give the visitors a 1-0 lead just 1:06 into the contest. The Wranglers had several chances to tie up the game and outshot the Aces 12 to 7 in the period but headed to the locker room trailing by a goal.
In the second period the Wranglers appeared to tie up the game on a shot from the point but the goal was waved off due to incidental contact with the goalkeeper by Josh Prudden. Neither team got on the scoresheet during the second period and the frame ended with the Aces outshooting the Wranglers 9 to 7 in the period. The Wranglers were 0-for-1 on the power play while the Aces went 0-for-2.
Alaska would stretch their lead to 2-0 as Tyson Marsh beat Gistedt with a backhand between the pads. The Wranglers responded at the 11:04 mark as Adam Miller found Alex Bourret between the circles. Bourret beat Reid with a one-timer to cut the lead to 2-1. The Wranglers tied up the game just over four minutes later as Mike Madill's slapshot on the power play found the back of the net. With the teams skating 4-on-4, the Aces earned the victory as Bryan Miller's wristshot from the point evaded Joel Gistedt for the final score.
The Wranglers return to action on Saturday against the Alaska Aces. The puck drops at 7:05 PM.
