Bakersfield falls to Victoria, 5-1

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - The Bakersfield Condors (33-27-4-1, 71pts) lost to the Victoria Salmon Kings (32-27-4-2, 70pts) 5-1 in front of 6,846 fans at Rabobank Arena Friday night. F Andrew Ianiero became the fourth player to record 100 career goals as a Condor.

Victoria drew first blood tonight, with F Randall Gelech rapping in a rebound for his 21st of the season just 2:54 into the game. The Condors answered however, at 6:20 when Ianiero hammered in his milestone goal, to make it 1-1. Former Condors RW Chad Painchaud regained the Victoria lead late in the frame by rifling in his 29th of the season at 15:36.

The Salmon Kings put the Condors in a big hole with two tallies in the middle stanza. D Taylor Ellington made it 3-1 at 4:23 of the frame, and RW Wes Goldie notched his league-leading 41st of the season at 15:11 to make it 4-1. Shots were 25-22 in favor of Victoria through 40 minutes.

Victoria put the game out of reach when LW Scott Howes scored at 3:51 of the third period for a 5-1 lead. The Salmon Kings edged the Condors in shots 33-32.
