BRIDGEPORT, Conn - Mark Wotton scored his first goal of the season with 10.3 seconds remaining in overtime as the Sound Tigers defeated the Norfolk Admirals 3-2 at the Arena at Harbor Yard on Saturday night. The win snaps the Sound Tigers three-game losing streak and improves their record to 6-9-0-0. The loss drops Norfolk to 7-4-2-1.

Perhaps showing some fatigue following road games on both sides the previous evening, the first period was fairly uneventful. Norfolk nearly took the lead on a Blair Jones deflection in front after the puck had disappeared behind Mikko Koskinen. However referee Jeff Smith deemed the puck never crossed the line, and that was as close as either side would come to scoring in the opening frame.

Nine minutes into the second period the Sound Tigers would take the lead. Dylan Reese held the puck just above the right faceoff circle in the Admirals zone, and fired a shot through traffic past Admirals goaltender Dustin Tokarski for his first goal of the season to give the home team a 1-0 lead.

Norfolk would tie the game just 23 seconds later. Similar to Reese's goal moments earlier, defenseman Mike Vernace took a shot from the point that made its way through a couple of screens in front and went between Mikko Koskinen's pads to make the score 1-1 with 8:37 left in the second period.

The Admirals would take the lead 2:02 into the third period. Micheal Haley took an interference penalty at the end of the second period, and just as his penalty expired Alex Berry collected a loose puck in the right faceoff circle and scored his second goal of the season to give the Admirals a 2=2D1 advantage.

The Sound Tigers would respond at the 5:28 mark. David Ullstrom fought hard to keep the puck in the Norfolk zone along the near-side boards, then gained possession and fed the puck to his linemate Jesse Joensuu. Joensuu held the puck in the slot and fired it into the top right corner of the cage for his fourth goal of the season to tie the game at two. Both teams would have chances in the waning minutes of regulation but neither side could break through, setting the stage for Wotton in overtime.

Ullstrom made some quick stickhandling plays to enter the zone and had his initial shot blocked in the slot. The loose puck caromed to Wotton who hammered a one-timer into the top right corner of the net to give the Sound Tigers a dramatic 3-2 win.

Mikko Koskinen made 20 saves to earn his second win of the season. The Sound Tigers have had four of their games go to overtime and have won all four, with two coming via shootout.

Ullstrom assisted on all three goals, and both Wotton and Reese had multi-point nights with a goal and an assist each.

The Sound Tigers will look to build off of Wotton's heroics on Tuesday when they travel to Springfield to take on the Falcons at 7 p.m.
