Hershey Bears News Release

Goaltender Dany Sabourin made 24 saves Saturday night to earn the first shutout by a HERSHEY goaltender this season, as the BEARS claimed a 3-0 win at Syracuse Saturday night.

After a scoreless first period in which HERSHEY put 14 shots on net to just four against Sabourin, the BEARS found the scoresheet in the second. Ashton Rome took a cross-ice pass from Dmitri Kugryshev and put home his fourth of the season. The tally at 3:08 of the second also came from Patrick Wellar, and the Chocolate and White led 1-0. Late in the second period, Andrew Gordon picked up his eighth goal of the year on a Brian Willsie rebound. Mathieu Perreault also recorded a playmaker on the power play strike at 16:07 of the second, and HERSHEY took a 2-0 lead to second intermission.

Syracuse could not solve Sabourin in the third, and Willsie added an exclamation point in the final frame with his seventh goal of the season. Perreault assisted on the two-on-one against Syracuse goaltender J.P. Levasseur, and the BEARS claimed a 3-0 win. The win for Sabourin was his third of the season, and his second at the War Memorial at OnCenter. Sabourin also won in Syracuse back on October 29. HERSHEY improved to 2-0 against Syracuse in 2010-11, and 8-5-0-1 overall.
