Grand Rapids Griffins News Release

HAMILTON, Ontario - Grand Rapids fell to the Hamilton Bulldogs 2-1 Saturday at Copps Coliseum, bringing an end to their five-game road winning streak just two games shy of the franchise record.

The Griffins (7-4-0-3) remain in Hamilton (8-2-1-2), as they seek to redeem themselves in a rematch against the Bulldogs Sunday, Nov. 14 at 4 p.m.

Aaron Palushaj put the Bulldogs on the board at 7:41 of the first period off an assist from David Desharnais, giving them a 1-0 lead. Later in the period during a Hamilton power play, Thomas McCollum made three spectacular saves, denying the Bulldogs of further advantage.

Tempers and fists collided between Greg Amadio and Alex Henry only one second after returning to the ice for the middle frame, which ignited the Grand Rapids bench as the visiting team dominated play during the period.

However, it was the Bulldogs who doubled their lead 2-0. Max Pacioretty launched a shot that ricocheted off the glove-side goal post unseen by McCollum at 17:56 of the period.

Logan Pyett made a last minute push to give the Griffins a chance, tallying a goal at 18:33 in the third period, which proved to be the last goal of the game.

McCollum made 18 saves while Curtis Sanford tallied 22 saves for the Bulldogs.

Three Stars: 1. HAM Pacioretty (1goal); 2. HAM Palushaj (1 goal); 3. GR Pyett (1 goal)
