Syracuse Crunch News Release

Syracuse, NY (November 13, 2010) - Andrew Gordon and Brian Willsie tallied two points (1g, 1a) each and Dany Sabourin stopped all 24 shots he saw as the Syracuse Crunch were shut out by the Hershey Bears tonight, 3-0, in front of 5,434 fans at The Oncenter War Memorial Arena.

The Crunch struggled to get any offensive flow going and were stymied by Hershey's patient defense all night long.

After a scoreless first 20 minutes that saw Hershey outshoot the Crunch by a 14-4 margin, Ashton Rome netted the game's first goal at the 3:08 mark of the second period after shuffling a Dmitri Kugryshev pass past J.P. Levasseur on the doorstep to make it a 1-0 game.

Gordon added to Hershey's lead almost exactly nine minutes later when he beat Levasseur with a power play marker to put the Bears up 2-0.

Willsie added an insurance marker when his shot from the left wing side deflected off a Crunch defenseman's stick and into the back of the net to give Hershey a 3-0 lead with 11:21 left in regulation.

The Crunch came close to scoring on a 5-on-3 advantage when Trevor Bruess and Zack Miscovic took minors 1:05 apart with about five minutes left in regulation, but could not capitalize on the opportunity.

Levasseur was the hard-luck loser in goal for the Crunch, turning away 37 of 40 shots Hershey threw at him.

The Crunch's next game is Wednesday, November 17 at 7:00 p.m. vs. Binghamton at The Oncenter War Memorial Arena.
