WORCESTER, M.A. - The Worcester Red Sox (38-36) erased a four-run deficit to beat the Lehigh Valley IronPigs (36-36) on Saturday at Polar Park, an 8-7 win for the team's 24th come-from-behind victory of the season. The win also ensured that the WooSox will finish above .500 in the first half of their schedule with the final game of the first half tomorrow. All International League teams will start with a 0-0 record when the second half begins on June 28.

The WooSox, who trailed 7-3 through four, faced a 7-6 deficit entering the bottom of the seventh. With one out, Narciso Crook stepped up with the bases loaded-he worked a 2-2 count, then laced a double down the right field line. By the time it was retrieved, two runs were in, and Worcester took their first lead of the day.

Oddanier Mosqueda got the first out of the eighth, A.J. Politi got the final five of the night for his sixth save and Worcester took a 3-2 series lead over the IronPigs.

Following a two-hour, 11-minute rain delay, the two teams combined for six runs in the first two innings. In the top of the second, the IronPigs rallied for three on an RBI single from Rafael Marchan and a two-run knock by Esteban Quiroz. The WooSox answered with three of their own in the bottom of the frame, plating runs on a Stephen Scott two-run double and RBI double by Niko Goodrum.

But Lehigh Valley topped its second inning with a four-run third, scoring on a go-ahead solo shot by Weston Wilson and a trio of RBI doubles, runs all charged to Worcester starter Jake Faria.

The WooSox began their comeback with a two-run fifth, putting runners in scoring position for Wilyer Abreu. On a 2-2 count, Abreu, celebrating his 24th birthday, laced a single up the middle to cut the deficit to 7-5.

David Palka led off the sixth with a solo home run, a 102 mile-per-hour blast to right-center. That set up the go-ahead rally in the eighth, handing Worcester its eleventh win in its last 15 games.

Out of the bullpen, Taylor Broadway, Mosqueda and Politi combined to toss 6.2 runless innings, striking out five in that span.

The WooSox conclude the six-game series (and their first half) at Polar Park on Sunday afternoon at 1:05 p.m. against the Lehigh Valley IronPigs, affiliate of the Philadelphia Phillies. On the mound, Shane Drohan (2-2, 5.60) faces Noah Skirrow (6-2, 5.43). Television coverage is on NESN+, while radio coverage is live at 12:45 p.m. on 98.9 Nash Icon and the WooSox Radio Network.
