Omaha Storm Chasers News Release
ROCHESTER, N.Y. - While Ryan Yarbrough fired 4.0 scoreless innings in his first rehab start with the Omaha Storm Chasers, but the Rochester Red Wings scored single runs in each of the last three innings and walked off on the Storm Chasers, a 3-2 loss for Omaha.
After making a rehab start in the Arizona Complex League on Monday, Yarbrough kept Rochester to four hits over four scoreless innings in his first start with Omaha, without any walks and three strikeouts.
John Rave broke a 0-0 tie with two outs in the fourth inning as he connected on a solo shot to right field for a 1-0 lead, stretch his hitting streak to eight games to start his tenure with the Chasers in 2023.
Omaha led by a run until the seventh, after Jonathan Heasley had already pitched two scoreless innings. A leadoff double for the Red Wings in the bottom of the seventh came around to score on an RBI single, tying the game at 1-1-.
While Omaha left a potential run of insurance on third base in the sixth and seventh, the Chasers were able to jump back ahead quickly in the top of the eight, as Brewer Hicklen and Kyle Isbel both walked, then Hicklen scored on an RBI single from Logan Porter for a 2-1 lead.
While Heasley struck out three in the eighth inning, his fourth inning of relief, Matt Adams connected on his second home run of the week for Rochester, a solo shot to center field that once again tied the game at 2-2.
A leadoff walk in the top of the ninth for Omaha was erased on a double play, sending the game to the bottom of the ninth tied at 2-2.
Christian Chamberlain took over on the mound and allowed a leadoff double, then walked two to load the bases with one out. His first pitch to former Chaser Franmil Reyes soared off the glove of the catcher Porter to the backstop to score the winning run from third for Rochester, a 3-2 loss to the Red Wings and Omaha's sixth walk-off loss this year.
Five hits for Omaha was the team's lowest hit total since the team had two on May 20, while the Chasers went just 1-for-11 with runners in scoring position in Saturday night's loss.
Omaha will try once again for its fifth series win of the year on Sunday at 12:05 p.m. CT as right-hander Alec Marsh takes the mound for his second start of the week.
