Louisville Bats News Release
CHARLOTTE, NC -- TJ Hopkins provided the only runs of the night as the Louisville Bats (39-33) fell to the Charlotte Knights (35-39) by a score of 7-2 on Saturday night at Truist Field.
Stuart Fairchild led off the game with a triple in his first Triple A plate appearance of the year, but the Bats were unable to take advantage of the man in scoring position early on.
Charlotte got on the board first, scoring four runs on three hits and one walk to take an early 4-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning.
Henry Ramos drew a five-pitch walk to begin the second inning before TJ Hopkins launched his eighth home run of the year, a two-run shot over the center field wall to cut Louisville's deficit to 4-2.
The Knights scored one run in the next three consecutive innings, extending their lead 7-2 in the bottom of the fifth.
Bats reliever Ryan Nutof (2-1, 5.40) threw three excellent innings, keeping Charlotte off the board while allowing three hits and two walks with five strikeouts. His 3.0 innings of work and five strikeouts both set new Triple-A career-high while tying his professional career highs.
Louisville was unable to get anything else going on offense, dropping game five of the series 7-2 to Charlotte on Saturday night.
The Bats and Knights will play the final game of the six-game series tomorrow, June 25th. First pitch is set for 5:05 pm E.T. Louisville has yet to announce its starter while LHP Nate Fisher (5-7, 5.00) will take the mound for the second time for Charlotte.
