Indianapolis Indians News Release

INDIANAPOLIS - Quinn Priester silenced the Columbus Clippers offense with 11 strikeouts across 6.0 scoreless frames as the Indianapolis Indians clinched a series win at Victory Field on Saturday night, 3-1.

Priester exited the game before the Indians (33-40) could plate a run, but not before tallying 11 strikeouts - his most since fanning a career-high 13 on Aug. 27, 2021 with High-A Greensboro at Asheville. He allowed just five baserunners in the outing via three hits and two walks.

With the game scoreless through the sixth inning, Indianapolis got on the board in the bottom of the seventh courtesy of a bases-loaded sacrifice fly to the center field warning track by Endy Rodríguez against Michael Kelly (L 1-2). Canaan Smith-Njigba then padded the lead with his eighth home run of the season, a two-run shot, in the next frame.

Yohan Ramirez (W, 1-0) pitched a scoreless seventh before the Indians got on the board in the bottom half. Columbus (32-41) scored its lone run on Jhonkensy Noel's solo homer in the ninth. Hunter Stratton (S, 1) left the game-tying run at home plate to clinch the victory.

The Indians have now won three games in a row and clinched a series win against the Clippers. It is their fourth series win of the season and first since May 29-June 4 vs. Toledo.

The series concludes tomorrow afternoon in a 1:35 PM ET start at Victory Field. RHP Jared Jones (0-1, 4.76) will make his second start in Triple-A for Indianapolis while Columbus has yet to name a starter.
