Wolves Select Forwards in Import Draft

The Sudbury Wolves are pleased to announce the selection of 18-year-old forward and Minnesota Wild prospect PAVEL JENYS,from the Czech Republic with the 26th overall selection in the CHL Import draft on Wednesday. The Wolves used their second draft pick to select 17-year-old Russian forward IVAN KASHTANOV.

Jenys, a 6'2", 190 lb centremanis described as a " physical player with a knack for scoring goals." The Minnesota Wild recently selected the Brno, Czech native in the 2014 NHL Entry Draft. Jenys was rated 21st overall in the NHL Central Scoutings' final ranking of European Skaters for the 2014 NHL Entry draft.

During the 2013-14 season, Jenys, 18, scored 13 goals in 26 games in the Czech U20 junior league. He also added 10 goals in 10 play-off games for the Brno U18 team. In internationalcompetition, Jenys scored four goals in 8 tournament games at the U18 Ivan Hlinka Memorial tournamentand U19 tournament. According to Wild Assistant GM Brent Flahr, "Pavel is a big two-waycentreman with good offensive abilities."

"The Sudbury Wolves have added two young skilled offensive players who are physically ready to move into our line-up today" notes Wolves' GM Blaine Smith. "Jenys is a big, strong forward with natural goal-scoring ability. Pavel is a hardworking forward that plays a physical brand of hockey. We look forward to welcoming two big, skilled European forwards to our line-up."

With the Wolves second selection, the Wolves drafted another skilled forward, IVAN KASHTANOV from Russia. The 5'11", 200 lb forward is 17- years- of- age and served as captain of the CSKA Red Army team of the MHL last season. Kashtanov also served as captain of the Russian U17 national team this past season.

Kashtanov has already been identified as a top-rated European prospect for the 2015 NHL draft by NHL Central Scouting. Kashtanov was drafted 5th overall in the 2014 KHL entry draft by CSKA Red Army. At a recent U17 5-Nations tournament in Sweden, Kashtanov finished 5th in tournament scoring and added 30 minutes in penalties.

"Kashtanov is a skilled forward with a hard accurate shot and he sees the ice very well" adds Smith. "As captain of the Russian U17 team, he brings character and leadership qualitiesto our line-up. We are fortunate to be able to select a skilled forward like Ivan in the second round of the CHL Import draft."
