Belleville Bulls News Release

BELLEVILLE, ON - The 2014 CHL Import Draft has netted the Bulls another high end prospect as they selected Czech born forward David Pastrnak tenth overall on Wednesday morning.

Bulls Head Coach and General Manager George Burnett announced the pick just after 11:40am, taking Pastrnak, a first round draft pick of the Boston Bruins this past weekend at the 2014 NHL Entry Draft in Philadelphia.

"With the depth of our 1997 and 1998 draft prospects and the number of returning players we have on our roster entering next season, we're in a position to swing for the fences with this pick and take an elite player with great credentials," said Burnett of the selection. "David is a skilled winger with elite speed and a competitive edge. He has a strong shot and knows how to finish."

Pastrnak played against grown men for much of last season with Sodertalje in the Swedish Allvenskan, Sweden's second tier of professional hockey. The native of Havirov, Czech Republic had 8 goals and 16 assists in 36 games. Pastrnak also represented the Czech Republic in the World Junior Hockey Championships, scoring a goal and 2 assists in 5 games.

The 5'11", 168Ibs. winger was the 25th overall pick by Boston in Friday night's first round of the 2014 NHL Entry Draft.
