Grimes Takes over Summer Hockey Camps

Belleville Bulls News Release

Faithful Belleville Bulls Campers:

I'm going to miss being a Belleville Bull. I was fortunate enough to play here for 3 years and coach for another 11. My family lives here and we call Belleville our home.

I will now pursue my career in coaching wherever that takes me in the winter months and return to Belleville in the off season where my family will stay year round.

It's been an emotional time but when my wife Kim and I were offered to take over the Belleville Bulls Hockey Camps we felt optimistic. My wife has an extensive background in the business side of hockey, and I have directed these camps for the last decade and I've had a blast. I've been teaching and running hockey camps for almost 30 years and I have grown attached to the Belleville Bulls Camps.

But there are two key reasons that encouraged us to take on this endeavor:

1. We love what the hockey camps offer young hockey players. They improve in every aspect of the game, work with professional coaches, Belleville Bulls alumni/players and young hockey leaders in our community, and they leave camp completely ready to start their season loving the game of hockey.

2. We see this as an opportunity to maintain a link between Belleville Bulls alumni/players and our community. This is an opportunity to have Belleville Bulls players/alumni come back and visit one of their favourite cities in the world...reconnect with the kids and teach what they do!

Kim and I thank you for allowing us the time to provide the necessary background for you to continue to feel confident in our camps and we appreciate your patience in this transition.

Below is a summary of necessary changes:

The following is a list of the challenges we have faced in transition. Please don't hesitate to call for clarification. Full refunds will be granted to those campers who are unable to adjust to the following changes:

The Yardmen Arena will no longer be an option for the camps as ice will not be made in the Yardmen this summer. This means some camps will have to be moved to new dates. Additionally, we will no longer be able to offer lunch and snacks for the kids.

To address these challenges we have worked closely with the City of Belleville to host our camps in the Quinte Sports and Wellness Centre. The City has been very accommodating and I am confident this transition will be successful.

In lieu of lunches we will be incorporating:

1-SWIM TIME for the kids (daily)

2-DAY CARE options to accommodate later pick-ups and earlier drop offs

3-And a PIZZA PARTY for the kids on Friday
