
'Wolves Down Baysox in eleven

Erie SeaWolves News Release
The SeaWolves snapped a five-game losing streak to the Bowie Baysox with a 5-4 win in 11 innings on Tuesday night at Jerry Uht Park. The Baysox struck first against Erie starter Jon Kibler in the top of the third inning. Adam Donachie led off the inning with a double. With one out Melvin Dorta walked bringing Jonathan Tucker to the plate with two on base. Tucker doubled home Donachie for a 1-0 Bowie lead. With runners on second and third, Paco Figueroa singled home Dorta for a 2-0 lead. Brandon Snyder capped off the scoring for the inning when he hit into a run scoring fielder's choice for a 3-0 Bowie advantage.
The SeaWolves responded against Bowie starter Troy Patton in the bottom of the third. With two outs, Deik Scram bunted his way aboard and Max Leon walked to put runners on first and second. Scott Sizemore singled to right, plating Scram, making it a 3-1 game. Sizemore has now hit safely in 15 of 18 games this season.
Erie added a second run in the bottom of the fifth. Shawn Roof singled with one out and was doubled home by Scram to make it a 3-2 game in favor of Bowie.
The Baysox would go back ahead by a pair of runs in the top of the sixth. Figueroa led off with a single. He moved into scoring position on a one out single by Ambiorix Concepcion and scored on a Miguel Abreau base knock for a 4-2 lead.
The score would remain the same until the bottom of the ninth inning. Alex Avila drew a leadoff walk and moved into scoring position on a Roof base hit. Scram followed with his second double and third hit of the game, scoring Avila, making it a one-run game at 4-3. Roof would score on a ground out by Leon, tying the game at 4-4.
In the top of the 11th, the Baysox would load the bases against the 'Wolves bullpen with one out but Brett Jensen retired the final two batters on a strikeout and flyout to left..
In the bottom of the 11th against reliever Ryan Rodriguez, the SeaWolves would take over and win the game. Avila led off with a double off the wall in left to put the winning run in scoring position. Cale Iorg came in as a pinch runner and got to third on a sacrifice bunt by Santo De Leon. Roof walked bringing Scram to the plate. Scram fell behind in the count but sent a liner to medium-deep left field. The ball was caught by the left fielder Tucker but on the throw to the plate, Iorg slid by catcher Guillermo Rodriguez to score the winning run.
Jensen (1-0) got the win for Erie tossing the final 2/3 of an inning.
It was the first extra innings game and win of the season for Erie.
