
Dopirak goes 3-for-5 with 3rd HR in 6-4 loss

New Hampshire Fisher Cats News Release
Manchester, NH- Brian Dopirak went 3-for-5 and belted a three-run home run, but the New Britain Rock Cats rallied past the New Hampshire Fisher Cats, 6-4, in the opening game of a three-game series Tuesday night at Merchantsauto.com Stadium.
Tied at 4-4 in the top of the 10th inning, Juan Portes (2-for-4, HBP, 2 RBI, 2 R) flared a bases-loaded single off losing pitcher Zach Dials, scoring Danny Valencia (1-for-4, BB, R) and Allan de San Miguel (1-for-2, BB, R) for a 6-4 Rock Cats' lead.
Jose Lugo struck out Adam Calderone (0-for-5) to record his first save of the season, earning the victory for Anthony Slama. Slama (1-0) worked two shutout innings, allowing two hits and two walks while fanning two.
Dials (0-1) took the loss after allowing two runs on two hits and two walks in 1.1 innings. The right-hander struck out one.
The Fisher Cats (11-7) jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning when Dopirak slammed his third home run of the season, a three-run shot off Rock Cats' starter Jay Rainville that landed on the access road in right field.
New Britain (7-10) evened the score, 3-3, when Brian Dinkelman (1-for-2, HR, 3 RBI, 2 BB, SB) tagged a Randy Boone offering over the rightfield wall for a three-run homer, his first, in the top of the second inning.
The Rock Cats took a 4-3 lead in the top of the fourth on a run-scoring double by Brandon Roberts (1-for-4, 2B, BB, RBI) that plated Portes, who had reached on a fielder's choice. Dinkelman, attempting to score from first base on the double, was thrown out at the plate.
New Hampshire scored the equalizer in the bottom of the seventh inning against Rob Delaney when Sean Shoffit (0-for-3, BB, R) walked and came home when Luis Sanchez (1-for-3, 2B, 2 BB, RBI, R) doubled to the wall in right-centerfield, making the score 4-4.
The Fisher Cats and Rock Cats square off again on Wednesday night at 6:35pm. New Hampshire left-hander Marc Rzepczynski (3-1, 4.58) faces New Britain lefty Ryan Mullins (0-3, 4.91) at Merchantsauto.com Stadium.
