Louisville Bats News Release

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. - WKU head coach Jeff Brohm will throw out a ceremonial first pitch on Monday night in Louisville when the Louisville Bats face Charlotte at Louisville Slugger Field. First pitch is set for 7:05 p.m. ET.

Brohm's annual trip to Louisville will include the appearance at the Louisville Bats game, appearances on various television and radio shows in the area and culminates with the WKU Football Louisville Kickoff Party in St. Matthews. The second annual Louisville Kickoff Party will be held on Tuesday, July 28 from 7-9 pm ET at the Buffalo Wild Wings in the Shelbyville Road Plaza located at 4600 Shelbyville Road.

Brohm, who enters his second season as WKU's head coach, led the Hilltoppers to an 8-5 record, broke 50 team and individual records, and guided the Red and White to a season-ending five-game winning streak that included a win over No. 19 Marshall, the first win over a ranked team in FBS history, and the program's first FBS bowl win at the Popeyes Bahamas Bowl.

Brohm has baseball in his blood, having spent two years in the minor league system. He was twice selected in the MLB First Year Player Draft, including in 1990 by the Cleveland Indians while playing football at Louisville. He spent the 1990 season in Burlington and the 1991 season in Watertown. He saw action in 51 career games with 39 hits and four home runs. His brother, Brian, was also a baseball draft pick of the Colorado Rockies in 2004.

Brohm was one of four family members to earn a gridiron letter from Louisville. He wrapped up his four-year collegiate career with the Cardinals as one of the most prolific offensive players to wear Louisville's jersey. As a three-year starter for the Cards, Brohm ranks among the all-time leaders for passing yards, touchdown passes, completions, total offense and completion percentage. He was also a 1988 Mr. Football winner at Louisville's Trinity High.
