Collecting a loose puck from out in front, Stanfield corralled the puck and roofed it past Carruth for a 2-0 lead. Fowlie scored his third of the year at 7:11 for a 3-0 Everett lead. Giebel's slap shot from the top circle was deflected by Fowlie in front and past Carruth. Carruth was pulled after Everett's third goal in favor of Keith Hamilton. Portland scored their first goal of the night at 8:33 with Ryan Johansen's 18th of the season. Everett struck back with Giebel's third of the year at 13:46. Oliver Gabriel made the score 4-2 on an unassisted shorthanded goal at 17:20 to conclude scoring in the first period.
After a scoreless second period, Portland scored two goals in the third to tie the game at the end of regulation. Tyler Wotherspoon scored at 9:42 before Nino Niederreiter tied the game at 16:22.
