Portland Winterhawks News Release
The National Hockey League's Central Scouting Bureau has released its rankings for the 2011 NHL Entry Draft, and four Winterhawks players have been ranked among the top-35 North American skaters: Sven Bartschi at #6, Ty Rattie at #11, Joe Morrow at #16 and Tyler Wotherspoon at #33.
Bartschi, Portland's first round selection in the 2010 Canadian Hockey League Import Draft, has 22 goals and 27 assists for 49 points in 38 games this season, leading all WHL rookies and ranking third on the Winterhawks and tying him for 13th overall in the league. He recently competed for his native Switzerland at the World Junior Championship, where he had a goal and an assist in helping them to a fifth place finish.
Rattie has 17 goals and 34 assists for 51 points this season, tying him for both the team lead and for fourth overall in the league. His 51 points is already a 14-point improvement from his rookie year last season. Rattie was Portland's first round selection, second overall, in the 2008 WHL Bantam Draft.
Morrow has two goals and 18 assists for 20 points this season, second among Winterhawks defensemen. Last season Morrow registered 31 points in 63 games. He was drafted by Portland in the second round, 38th overall, in the 2007 WHL Bantam Draft.
Wotherspoon, a defenseman, has one goal and six assists for seven points this season, already eclipsing the five points he had last season. Wotherspoon was Portland's second round pick, 23rd overall, in the 2008 WHL Bantam Draft.
The 2011 NHL Entry Draft is set for June 24-25 in St. Paul, Minnesota. Last year the Winterhawks tied a franchise record with eight players taken in the draft, including Ryan Johansen fourth overall by the Columbus Blue Jackets and Nino Niederreiter fifth overall by the New York Islanders.
Full season, 18, 10 and 5-game ticket plans for the 2010-11 season are on sale now. Group rates start at just 10 people and every ticket includes a free Winterhawks hat. Contact the Winterhawks at 503-236-HAWK or seats@winterhawks.com to secure the best seats.
