Game #22 (Home Game #8)

DASH CLINCH SWEEP AT WILMINGTON

With two outs in the top of the 10th inning and the score knotted at two, Craig Dedelow smashed a three-run homer to lead the Winston-Salem Dash to a 5-2 victory and a series sweep over the Wilmington Blue Rocks on Wednesday night at Frawley Stadium. The home run was Dedelow's fourth of the season and second in as many games. The three-game sweep for the Dash was their first of the year, and the club's first since sweeping Wilmington from August 17-19 at BB&T Ballpark.

THE RETURN OF LA PANTERA

Luis Robert, who was removed from Saturday's game two at Potomac for precautionary reasons due to soreness in his left hand and was day-to-day with a contusion, will be back in the starting lineup on Friday. Robert, who is ranked the 38th-best prospect in all of baseball per MLB Pipeline, was named the Carolina League Player of the Week for April 4-14. Robert is off to a hot start to 2019. In 15 games played, he is 28-for-59 with six homers, 18 RBIs and a batting line of .475/.530/.915. He has also already posted 11 multi-hit games this year. The 21-year-old leads the Carolina League in batting average, hits, home runs, runs, stolen bases, slugging percentage, OPS, extra-base hits and total bases. Robert was inked to a $26 million signing bonus by the White Sox in May of 2017. It was the second-largest bonus given to an amateur, behind only Yoan Moncada's deal with the Boston Red Sox.

BACK ABOVE THE .500 MARK

Thanks to their second three-game winning streak of the season, the Dash are above the .500 mark for the time since the five-game mark. At 11-10, Winston-Salem is currently 2.0 games back of Down East and Fayetteville, who are tied for the best record in the CL with Lynchburg. Thus far, Winston-Salem's strong suit has been its offense. The Dash currently rank third in the Carolina League in OPS (.736) and home runs (15). Pitching wise, the Dash are in the middle of the pack, sitting fifth overall in ERA with a 3.58 mark.

MORE ON MR. DEEDS

Dedelow, who hit two homers during the Dash's previous series at Wilmington, has been a stable presence in the middle of the lineup for Winston-Salem. His .741 OPS is currently second among active Dash players, as is his .440 slugging percentage. Dedelow was a ninth-round pick in 2017 out of the University of Indiana, where he hit 19 home runs his senior season. Last year, the former Hoosier finished third in homers for Low-A Kannapolis with 12.

SECOND HOME START AT BB&T BALLPARK

Left-hander Cristian Castillo will make his second start at BB&T Ballpark on Friday as a member of the Dash. Traded over from the Royals for cash considerations on March 21, Castillo made one start during his time with Wilmington at the downtown facility, allowing just one hit while striking two in four shutout innings on June 16, 2018. Castillo picked up the loss in his first home start with the Dash, allowing five runs in six innings of work against Potomac on April 14.

BULLPEN IS RISING TO THE OCCASION

Through the first 21 games, the Dash bullpen has yielded an impressive 3.00 ERA and an 11.3 K/9 ratio. Here are the notable performers to start the year:

RHP Alec Hansen: 0.00 ERA, 8.0IP, 1H, 14K

RHP Codi Heuer: 1-0, 1.50 ERA, 6 apps, 12.0IP, 13K, 2BB

RHP Will Kincanon: 1.35 ERA, 6.2IP, 1ER, 8K

RHP Luis Ledo: 8.1IP, 3 saves, 6K, 2.16 ERA

DASH DOTS

The Dash kick off a seven-game homestand on Friday, with three games against the Frederick Keys followed by four against the Potomac Nationals...Winston-Salem took three out of four in its last matchup against Frederick, which took place from April 4-7...The Dash had an opportunity to sweep that series, but the Keys rallied back from a five-run deficit to ultimately pull out a 11-10 win thanks to a walk-off single from Mason McCoy.
