Frederick Keys News Release
WINSTON-SALEM, NC. - DL Hall and Luis Perez were unhittable on Friday night as the Frederick Keys (9-12) shutout the Winston-Salem Dash (11-11) in a 7-0 win at BB&T Ballpark. Hall (1-0) had his best start of the season, allowing one walk in the first inning and an infield single while striking out a season-high eight batters over five scoreless innings. Perez was a whiff machine, striking out seven out of 13 batters faced in four innings.
Both teams were held scoreless until the fourth inning, when Frederick tallied three singles to load the bases. Cristian Castillo (0-3) was able to get two-outs and induced a groundball to third that could have ended the frame, but Yeyson Yrizarri muffed it to allow a run to score, and Castillo walked Cole Billingsley which gave Frederick a 2-0 lead. In the fifth, Jomar Reyes powered a two-run blast to right field, his second home run of the season to make it 4-0.
The Keys loaded the bases again the in sixth inning and added a run on a wild pitch that scored Kirvin Moesquit to push the lead 5-0. Two more runs crossed in the ninth thanks to an RBI single from Willy Yahn and a Jean Carrillo groundout that brought in a run.
Mason McCoy finished with a pair of hits and two runs, while Zach Jarrett and Reyes tallied three hits. Cristian Castillo (0-3) was solid through four innings but suffered from the Yrizzari error and was over-extended into the fifth inning, where he surrendered the home run.
The Keys play afternoon baseball against Winston-Salem on Saturday, April 27th with first pitch scheduled for 2pm. RHP David Lebron (0-0, 5.23 ERA) makes the start for Frederick and is opposite LHP John Parke (1-1, 4.35 ERA) for Winston-Salem. Pregame coverage begins at 1:45 p.m. on frederickkeys.com and the TuneIn radio app.
