Rochester Red Wings News Release

The Rochester Red Wings came back from a one-run deficit in the ninth inning, beating the WooSox, 6-5 thanks to a two-out game winning double from CF Jack Dunn that drove in C Drew Millas and 3B Jeter Downs to give the Wings their one-run advantage in the ninth. 2B Erick Mejia, DH Jacob Nottingham and CF Jack Dunn each launched a home run in the win while RHP Joan Adon logged his 12th outing of five or more innings.

Rochester got on the board early in the first inning with a homer from 2B Erick Mejia, giving the switch-hitter his second long ball in his last two at-bats. The WooSox followed suit in the first and second innings with homers from rehabbing SS Trevor Story in the first and C Ronaldo Hernandez in the second, bringing the score to 2-1. The Wings responded in the fourth with their four of the game from DH Jacob Nottingham, tying the contest at 2-2 heading into the fifth.

3B Jeter Downs broke the tie in the next inning, sending a sacrifice fly out that plated C Drew Millas to give Rochester a 3-2 lead. After 3B Ryan Fitzgerald came back to tie the game for Worcester scoring on a wild pitch, 2B Nick Sogard launched an RBI double, plating DH Daniel Palka to give the WooSox a 4-3 lead over the Wings.

Worcester drove in another run in the bottom of the sixth to extend their lead to 5-3 on a line drive single from 3B Ryan Fitzgerald that scored Hernandez. CF Jack Dunn responded with an eighth inning leadoff home run, his first of the season with Rochester, cutting the deficit to one. Dunn continued in the top of the ninth with a two-run double, driving in Millas and Downs, giving the Wings a 6-5 in the top of the ninth. The WooSox were unable to get anything going in their half of the 9th, as Luis Cessa picked up his third save to seal the win.

RHP Joan Adon started in his 16th outing for the Red Wings this season. The Dominican Republic native allowed just four earned while striking out seven through five innings of work, marking the righty's 12th start throwing five or more innings. RHP Tommy Romero came in to relieve Adon in the sixth, working three innings, allowing one earned on two hits, striking out three in his 26th outing for Rochester, logging his fourth win of the year. RHP Luis Cessa finished off the final scoreless inning for the Wings in his seventh appearance for the team this year receiving his third save.

Friday night's Diamond Pro Player of the Game was awarded to CF Jack Dunn after going 3-for-4 with a home run, three RBI, and a two-run double in the ninth that drove in both the tying and game winning runs for the Wings. The long ball marked Dunn's first in Triple-A.

The Wings return to action Saturday evening at Polar Park where LHP Anthony Banda (0-2, 7.88) is slated to make the start for Rochester against WooSox LHP Brandon Walter (1-5, 6.08). First pitch is set for 4:05 pm.
