Rochester Red Wings News Release
The Red Wings blew a six-run lead on Saturday, falling 10-9 to the Bisons in extra innings in game two of the mini-series at Sahlen Field.
RHP Sterling Sharp got the ball for Rochester in his second appearance against Buffalo this season, giving up three hits and five runs through 3.1 innings.
A double from DH Josh Palacios and a sac fly from LF David Dahl put the Wings up two in the first. CF Andrew Stevenson made it 3-0 with a second-inning RBI single that scored RF Donovan Casey. Stevenson logs his first four-game hit streak since June 17-21 at Scranton and against Syracuse.
The Wings ran up the score with an RBI triple from 2B Jake Noll that brought home Dahl and C Riley Adams. 3B Jake Alue capped off the third with an RBI single to score Noll, putting the Wings up 6-0, but it wouldn't last.
Sharp struggled in the bottom of the fourth, giving up a five-run inning that dropped the Rochester lead to just one run. The Wings bounced back in the fifth with an RBI double from Casey and an RBI single from Stevenson to go up 8-5, but they lost the lead again in the seventh.
RHP Matt Brill and LHP Matt Cronin each allowed a pair of runs as Buffalo used a four-run seventh inning to take a 9-8 lead. Rochester tied it up in the ninth on an RBI single from Casey, but RHP Patrick Murphy walked Cullen Large with the bases loaded in the bottom of the 10th as the Bisons took the victory.
The Wings outhit Buffalo 14-6 but couldn't capitalize, as the loss drops their record against the Bisons to 7-7 this season.
Rochester will send RHP Cory Abbott to the mound Sunday at 1:05 p.m. in Buffalo with a chance to avoid a three-game sweep.
