
Lehigh Valley Wins Over RailRiders

(Allentown, PA) - The Lehigh Valley Wooder Ice (50-42) got the best of the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders (45-47) on Saturday evening. Lehigh Valley earned their 500th franchise win at home in the victory.
The Wooder Ice took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning as Justin Williams hit an RBI single against Matt Krook that scored Mickey Moniak. The RailRiders took a 2-1 lead against Cristopher Sanchez in the top of the third inning as Oswald Peraza hit an RBI double that scored Chris Owings and Miguel Andujar hit an RBI single that scored Peraza.
Scranton/Wilkes-Barre extended their lead to 3-1 in the top of the fourth inning against Sanchez as Owings hit an RBI single to score Ronald Guzman. Oswaldo Cabrera doubled Braeden Ogle (2-2) in the top of the fifth inning to score Peraza and extend the lead to 4-1.
The Wooder Ice took a 5-4 lead in the bottom of the fifth inning. Nick Maton hit an RBI single that scored Dalton Guthrie then Chris Sharpe hit a sacrifice fly that scored Moniak. Williams then came through with a two-run double against Michael Gomez (2-4) that scored Donny Sands and Maton.
Moniak added an RBI single in the bottom of the sixth inning to give Lehigh Valley some insurance, 7-4. Josh Breaux homered for the RailRiders in the top of the seventh inning to cut Lehigh Valley's lead to 7-5. They scored again in the top of the eighth inning on an RBI double by Cabrera.
Nick Duron earned his fourth save of the season by pitching 1 1/3 scoreless innings while striking out two batters.
The IronPigs and RailRiders wrap up their series on Sunday evening at Coca-Cola Park. First pitch is scheduled for 5:35 p.m.
