RHP Sterling Sharp (2-4, 5.58) vs. RHP Thomas Hatch (4-5, 4.72)

SHUTDOWN AND REBOOT: Rochester was shutout in the series opener in Buffalo last night, 3-0...LHP Josh Rogers went five innings while only allowing two earned runs on six hits in a Major League Rehab Assignment starting ...LHP Francisco Perez, LHP Alberto Baldonado and RHP Mason Thompson combined for three scoreless innings of relief while scattering four knocks...the Wings strung together just four hits in the loss with CF Andrew Stevenson, 1B Joey Meneses, LF Josh Palacios and DH Donovan Casey earning one apiece...the Red Wings will send RHP Sterling Sharp to the mound who will be facing off against Buffalo RHP Thomas Hatch in search of their first win of the series.

DISCOUNT DOUBLE-CHECK: Last night, LHP Josh Rogers went five innings while allowing just two earned runs on six hits...the southpaw did not allow a run after the first inning, giving up just three hits in four innings...Rogers' two earned runs are his fewest allowed in a rehab-start this season (4 starts, 2 w/ ROC & 2 w/ HBG).

WE GOT WORK TO DO: With another error committed last night by the Wings, the squad now ranks fifth in the International League with 72 errors this season...the club also has the fifth-lowest fielding percentage (.978) in the IL...C Taylor Gushue caught a base runner stealing last night, yet Rochester is still tied 16th in most would-be base stealers caught (19) and have allowed the fifth-most stolen bases (102) in the IL...Rochester's two double plays puts their total at 67 this season, which ranks T-14th out of 20 clubs in the IL.

BUT IT'S SUMMER: The Wings' bats have gone cold in the month of July, batting just .237 (125-for-527), their worst batting average in a month this season...yesterday's four-hit performance in Buffalo tied a season-low in hits...the team has had five or fewer hits in four of their last five games.

WHO YA GONNA CALL?: LHP Francisco Perez, LHP Alberto Baldonado and RHP Mason Thompson combined for three scoreless innings of relief...each member of the trio struckout a batter in their appearance...Thompson has allowed just one earned run in five appearances with the Wings this season (1.35 ERA)...Perez has not allowed an earned run in his last five outings (5.0 IP).

THAWED OUT: OF Andrew Stevenson went 1-for-3 with a single yesterday against Buffalo...since going 4-for-35 over an eight-game stretch, the former LSU Tiger has a three-game hit-streak, going 4-for-his-last-12 with a pair of doubles...despite the slump, Stevenson still has the second-best batting average (.292) on the team this season.

A TALE OF TWO: RHP Sterling Sharp will get the start today as Rochester looks to take game-two of the series...in his one outing against Buffalo this year, the righty went 0.2 innings and allowed three earned runs...the National's prospect will look to build on his last start where he went 5.2 innings and allowed just one earned run in route to earning himself the win against Omaha...Sharp will be seeking a win in back-to-back starts for the first time since July 7 and 14, 2021.

- the 27-year-old comes into today's start with 52 strikeouts in 59.2 innings, having already surpassed his 2021 total where he had just 47 strikeouts in 70.2 innings.

BLUE FACE, JOEY: 1B Joey Meneses' fourth-inning base knock marked his 100th hit of the season, good for second in the International League for hits...the Mexico-native is 19-for-62 (.306) in July and has a hit in 11-of-his-last 14 games...Meneses also extended his errorless streak to 39 games, the longest of any Wing this season.

KNOCKS: It took the Red Wings 86 games before two players amassed 90+ hits on the year...the 2021 Wings team finished the season with two players with 90+ hits and it took 126 games for them to achieve this feat, making this year's accomplishment occur in 40 less games...the 2022 squad also has six different players with more than 60 knocks on the year (all at Triple-A level) compared to the 2021 squad's three.

STREAKING PALACIOS: LF Josh Palacios extended his on-base streak to 25 games with his base knock last night...the former Auburn Tiger has also extended his season-long hit-streak to 12 games, the longest active hit-streak in the International League...the lefty has the longest on-base streak on the Red Wings squad this season as well as the longest active streak in the IL...the last person to eclipse a 24-game on-base streak in a Wings uniform was former Red Wing Drew Maggi when he reached base safely in 39-straight (6/21-8/9/2019).
