RailRiders Fall to Lehigh Valley

ALLENTOWN, PA - The Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders dropped a 7-6 final against the Lehigh Valley IronPigs on Saturday at Coca-Cola Park. Scranton/Wilkes-Barre held a 4-1 lead midway through the game, but Lehigh Valley scored four in the fifth and two in the sixth to take game two of this three-game set.

The IronPigs opened the scoring against RailRiders starter Matt Krook in the first with three walks and a run scoring on an error with two outs.

After Cristopher Sanchez held the RailRiders in check over the first two innings, Scranton/Wilkes-Barre took the lead against the southpaw in the third. Chris Owings walked and scored on a double down the left field line by Oswald Peraza. Miguel Andujar singled home Peraza for a 2-1 Scranton/Wilkes-Barre advantage.

The RailRiders added a run in the fourth on an RBI single by Ownings and extended the lead in the top of the fifth when Oswaldo Cabrera doubled Peraza home from first for a 4-1 SWB edge.

Lehigh Valley recaptured the lead in the bottom of the fifth with four runs on three hits, keyed by a two-run double from Justin Williams to push ahead 5-4. The IronPigs added a pair against Michael Gomez in the sixth to build a three-run cushion at 7-4.

Josh Breaux's solo home run in the seventh brought the RailRiders within two and Cabrera added an RBI double in the eighth, but Scranton/Wilkes-Barre left the tying run at third in the go-ahead run at second.

Krook didn't allow a base hit until the fifth, walking six and striking out two in a no-decision. Gomez (2-4) took the loss after allowing four runs, three earned, on five hits over 1.2 innings. Braeden Ogle (2-2) garnered the win for the IronPigs and Nick Duron recorded the final four outs for his fourth save.

Peraza, Cabrera and Andujar had two hits apiece as the RailRiders outhit the IronPigs 10-8.

Scranton/Wilkes-Barre and Lehigh Valley wrap this three-game series on Sunday with Jhony Brito and Bailey Falter taking the mound for the RailRiders and IronPigs, respectively. First pitch is slated for 5:35 P.M.
