
Durham Stuns Norfolk in Comeback Win

Durham, NC- The Durham Bulls (50-42) picked up a 9-8 win against the Norfolk Tides (44-48) in game two of their three-game set Saturday evening at Durham Bulls Athletic Park, overcoming a three-run deficit for the second consecutive game.
Norfolk LF Dylan Harris would use a sacrifice fly in the second to get Norfolk on the board. In the bottom half of the inning, Durham would then get hot as 1B Tristan Gray would smash a two-run shot for his 20th homer of the season, tying him for the International League lead. LF Ruben Cardenas would then immediately follow in the next at-bat with a solo shot, while SS Vidal Brujan two batters later would follow suit with a solo bomb of his own to put the Bulls ahead 4-1.
The Tides responded in the third, racking up six scores. CF Kyle Stowers and DH Richie Martin both rang up RBI doubles to tie the game at four, and C Jacob Nottingham went yard on a two-run shot to put Norfolk ahead. 2B Terrin Vavra rounded out the inning with an RBI single for the 7-4 advantage.
In the fourth, the Tides would continue their scoring run as Stowers would connect on a solo shot to make it 8-4. In the sixth, the Bulls would again come alive at the plate as Gray tattooed his second two-run shot of the game, giving him an International League leading 21 homers, and trimming the Norfolk lead to 8-6. In the eighth, CF Grant Witherspoon would put Durham ahead for good on a three-run, giving the team their fifth homer of night.
Durham pitcher Zack Erwin picked up the win after one inning of work, allowing one hit, while Dustin Knight notched the save. Norfolk pitcher Morgan McSweeney picked up the loss.
The Bulls are set to continue their nine-game homestand on Sunday afternoon for their series finale against the Tides. First pitch is scheduled for 5:05pm. RHP Taj Bradley is set to make his Triple-A debut for Durham, while Norfolk's pitcher has not been announced.
