
Wills Visiting Dow Diamond

MIDLAND, MI - Maury Wills, the National League's 1962 Most Valuable Player and the first player in baseball history to steal 100 bases, is visiting Dow Diamond this week on assignment with the Los Angeles Dodgers.
Wills will be signing autographs on the concourse on during Thursday night's game beginning in the fifth inning. The baseball legend will be available for a media question and answer session from 6:00-6:30 p.m. He will then appear on the Loons On Deck Circle, powered by Dow Corning pregame show on ESPN 100.9-FM. Wills is also scheduled to throw out the game's ceremonial first pitch.
Wills, 76, won three World Series rings with the Dodgers and for LA in 12 of his 14 big league seasons, with brief stops in Pittsburgh and Montreal. He won two Gold Gloves at shortstop, and led the league in stolen bases six times, including 104 in his 1962 MVP season.
Tickets are still available for Thursday night's 7:05 p.m. game against the Beloit Snappers by calling 989-837-BALL or at Loons.com. In addition to Wills' appearance, the first 5,000 fans receive a Wild West All-Stars poster courtesy of F.P. Horak.
