Kane County Cougars News Release
GENEVA, IL - The Kane County Cougars anxiously anticipate two special theme days to take place next month, as Jimmy Buffett Theme Day and Bark in the Park are both on the docket during the month of August at Elfstrom Stadium. Each theme day is open to fans and have carried a long-standing tradition as two of the most unique promotions in Minor League Baseball. Complete details are below on each theme game.
Jimmy Buffett Theme Day is scheduled for Sunday, August 9. That afternoon's 2 p.m. game against the Clinton Lumberkings will have a tropical feel from the moment fans enter the ballpark. Traditional baseball pre-game music will be substituted for more appropriate Jimmy Buffett tunes, to properly set the mood before the first pitch. Fans expecting a normal-looking Elfstrom Stadium will be in for a treat, as the Cougars' home will be showered in tropical décor throughout the ballpark.
Fashion-wise, both fans and players are encouraged to embrace the changes in latitude as prizes will be awarded to some of the best-dressed fans. Cougars players will be wearing custom-made Hawaiian-style jerseys that will be worn on August 9 only, to pay homage to the lazy days of summer. Fans that day will be invited onto the field for three different special events that afternoon: a pre-game autograph session with Cougars players at 1:30 p.m., an opportunity to run the bases after the game, and a chance to take the field during a free post-game live concert by The Disorderlies.
Fans can get their hands on Jimmy Buffett Theme Day tickets before the ship leaves the dock by calling (630) 232-8811 or visiting www.kccougars.com.
Bark in the Park, set for Monday, August 24, is truly a day for the dogs at Elfstrom Stadium. Game time is set for 6:30 p.m. that evening as the Cougars host the Beloit Snappers. All dogs (on leashes) and their owners are invited to the ballpark that night as the right field lawn will be open for all Chicagoland canines and their owners. Both water stations and "doggy business" stations will be available adjacent to the right field lawn area for water and restroom breaks. Before the game, all dogs and owners will be invited onto the field to take part in a dog parade. Various contests during between-innings breaks, including biggest dog and smallest dog, will pay homage to man's best friend and afterwards, everyone (dogs included) can run the bases.
Tickets for Bark in the Park can be ordered at www.kccougars.com or by calling the Cougars at (630) 232-8811.
