
Williams Delivers TinCaps to 6-5 Win

FORT WAYNE, Ind. - The Fort Wayne TinCaps scored two runs in the bottom of the 12th as they stunned the Dayton Dragons, 6-5, Wednesday at Parkview Field. Everett Williams drove in the winning run with a one-out single up the middle.
INF Jonathan Galvez had a big game for Fort Wayne, going 3-for-5 with two RBIs and two runs scored. Galvez put the TinCaps on the board in the bottom of the 2nd with a two-run single to left. Later in the inning, Galvez stole second and Bo Davis dashed home from third base on the doublesteal to give the TinCaps a 3-0 lead.
Meanwhile, RHP Jerry Sullivan was dominant through six innings, but ran into trouble in the 7th. He allowed a leadoff double to DiDi Gregorius in the 1st, then retired the next 18 Dragons he faced. In the 7th, Dayton broke Sullivan's string and loaded the bases with three consecutive singles. Chris Richburg followed with a grand slam down the left-field line to vault Dayton into the lead, 4-3.
The TinCaps quickly tied it in the bottom of the 7th. Galvez ripped a one-out double down the leftfield line; Jeudy Valdez drove him in with an RBI single to right.
The bullpens kept it tied until the 12th inning. Jordan Widman went all the way to third on a dropped fly ball to left, then scored on a sacrifice fly by Shane Carlson.
Fort Wayne came back to win it in the bottom of the inning. Galvez pounded another double to right-center and scored the tying run when Valdez reached on an error. Valdez stole second and scored when Williams ripped a 2-2 pitch into right-center to win the game.
TinCaps LHP Rob Musgrave (2-0) picked up the win. Dayton RHP Doug Salinas allowed both runs in the 12th to take the loss and even his record at 1-1.
Fort Wayne (4-3) jumped back above .500; Dayton fell to 5-2.
The TinCaps and Dragons (Class-A Cincinnati Reds) continue the three-game series Thursday at Parkview Field at 7:05 p.m. Fort Wayne LHP Mike Watt (0-0) goes to the mound against Dayton RHP Brian Pearl (0-0).
