April 14, 2010 - Midwest League (MWL1)
Quad Cities River Bandits News Release
The annual baseball matchup between the University of Iowa Hawkeyes and Western Illinois Leathernecks returns to Modern Woodmen Park on Tuesday, May 18.
"It is a real honor for us to welcome these two programs back to Modern Woodmen Park this year," said team owner Dave Heller. "This gives baseball fans in the Quad Cities another opportunity to see college baseball at its highest level close to home in a great, family-friendly venue, and it gives these young men the opportunity to play in a pro stadium - often for the first time in their lives - and that's a memory they will keep with them for years."
Modern Woodmen Park, serving as a neutral site between Iowa City and Macomb, will host the Big 10 - Summit League mid-May matchup at 6:30 p.m. while the River Bandits are on the road.
Tickets go on sale at midnight Saturday morning and start at just $5.00. Group packages are also available for the Jumer's Casino & Hotel Hot Tub Deck, Party Plaza, Sky Deck, Loge Boxes and even the suites. For tickets and more information visit or call the Modern Woodmen Park box office at (563) 3-BANDIT or log on to RiverBandits.com.
"We have enjoyed a great relationship with each these two schools over the last couple of years," said River Bandits General Manager Kirk Goodman. "We're excited to have them back and I'm sure that Hawkeye and Leatherneck fans, as well as fans of great baseball, are looking forward to this game as much as we are."
Last season was the first year for the matchup between the two NCAA Division-I institutions at Modern Woodmen Park. The Hawkeyes got the best of the meeting with a 20-7 win over the Leathernecks when the two teams dueled in Davenport last year.
UP NEXT: Though baseball season has bloomed, Modern Woodmen Park provides a great special events venue while the River Bandits are on the road during the 2010 season. It's not too late to purchase season ticket and mini-plan packages - including the brand new Super Seven Plan - right now by calling (563) 3-BANDIT or visiting RiverBandits.com.
